Virginia's monkey

Virginia's Monkey is the first of (hopefully) a series of musical
experiments.  Virginia's Monkey was born out of the efforts of Dave Keyte,
Angela Clift and Noel Price.  Dave contributed his multitude of intuitive
sax scales, instrumental arrangements and big smiles.  Angela brought her
sweet voice, crazy lyrics and infectious optimism to project.  Noel did the
rest... especially the stuff no one else wanted to do.

Virginia's Monkey is a collection of original compositions and unusual
arrangements of older folk songs.  The CD is currently out of stock but
should be back in production soon.  Please email for
information.

Boogie Woogie Woogie 'til the Cows Come Home

I was raised on a milkin' farm, with little white house and a big red
barn... sunday go-to-meetin' for the judgment day.

We were'nt allowed to listen to no rock n roll, but we could boogie, woogie,
woogie 'til the cows came home.

Momma drove a tactor, papa drove a truck, everybody worked it was that kind
of luck... buckin' bales and puttin' up the hay.

We never got to listen to no rock n roll, but we could boogie, woogie,
woogie 'til the cows came home.

Up at four thirty and in bed before dark, sunday go-to-meetin' in a
studabaker lark... mama always said, "son, you gotta stand up tall."

She wouldn't let us listen to no rock n roll, but we could boogie, woogie,
woogie 'til the cows came home.

Moma passed away and papa followed after, we sold the dairy farm to a
consortium of investment bankers.  They were plannin' to build a Wal-Mart
and a Home Depot.

We got a bank check fatter than rock n roll, now we can boogie, woogie,
woogie 'cause our cows came home!

Wilder Rose

Here is the telling of one thing I know.
The good pervading this world doesn't always show...
but splashes stone to stone in a water rhyme
that washes out the storm from sweet summer time.

Come, bend the stem of a wilder rose.
A sweeter child, this planet never grows...
to hide beneath the grape and the trumpet vine
and herald the arrival of sweet summer time.

Lovesong

If I could write a love song, I would write this one for you,

in spite of love that's gone wrong... and all the heartache we've been
through.
You must believe there's a doorway from every room.
You must believe there's a rainbow in every storm.

If I could sing a love song, I would sing this one to you.
Although it's been far too long for your dreams to all come true.
We must believe that our faces will find the sun.
We must believe that the seeds we have sown will sprout new flowers before
summer is gone.

If we could write a love song about all the love we've known.
We'd write about times long gone and the distances we've grown.
We'd look around and see how many times we won.
We'd look around and we'd wonder where they have gone.

You must believe there's a doorway from every room.
You must believe there's a rainbow that's hiding, still shining inside every
storm.
